Biography
Born and and raised in Atlanta, I am now a 22-year-old graduate about to begin a career in public relations and special events, I believe the path my parents guided me on is the reason for my achievements, attitude and drive.
My father is a partner in the accounting industry, specializing in commercial real estate. My mother, who is my
other half, was a well-known public relations specialist in Atlanta for clients such as: Buckhead Life Restaurant Group, Spa Sydell and March of Dimes. I am very close to my brother, Matt, and cherish my tight-knit, encouraging and beautiful family.
Growing up, I was blessed with a family that valued education, traveling, sports, faith and simply having fun. It was important to us to experience new places and learn different cultures. We vacationed across the seas to England, France, Greece, Italy, Peru, Canada and to the isles of the Caribbean. We've also traveled throughout the U.S.,where I have shopped the streets of New York, biked the hills of San Francisco, skied the slopes of Colorado, looked inside the volcanoes of Hawaii, toured historical sites in Washington D.C., herded cattle at a dude ranch in Nevada and spent many summers with family and friends on the beaches of Florida.
Watching my mom in the communications industry as I grew up, I always wanted to work in that world, and I now undoubtedly know I was made for it. I observed and appreciated her professional approach toward media and clients. She taught me the importance of meeting deadlines, double checking details, anticipating problems, being concise in communication, while always maintaining a positive attitude.
Education and involvement have always been paramount. I graduated from Walton High School at the top of my class, became the founder and president of the Random Acts of Kindness Club, was a cheerleader and tennis player and went on several mission trips to Central and South America. In 2006, I was then off to college - Auburn Univeristy.
Reflecting on my four years of college, I had the time of my life. I applied and was one of the five percent accepted into the public relations program before starting classes. My freshman year was a time of meeting new people, and getting involved in my social soroity. During my sophomore and junior years, I thoroughly enjoyed getting entrenched into the public relations curriculum. The summer of 2008, I studied abroad in Rome, Italy. It was an amazing opportunity to live in another country, and after I enthusiastically volunteered for the Auburn Study Abroad Department.
The summer of 2009, I was privileged to intern at Edelman Atlanta, the number one public relations agency in the U.S. and the largest worldwide. The internship provided me with valuable tools, experience and skills to begin my career path. The professional, challenging and compassionate spirit that embodies Edelman truly impacted my determination to succeed in the communications industry. I had the pleasure to work with clients such as Aflac, SunTrust, Wal-Mart, VF Corporation, Tiffany Co., Rockledge Resort.
As a senior, I was selected to be the Vice President of Programming for Auburn's Public Relations Council of Alabama, and was honored to receive the PR Student of the Year Award. As a leader of the club, I was responsible for securing guest speakers and organizing the annual events for the club. To enhance my education, I decided to add a minor in business. I believe this gives me an edge and a better knowledge of business for potential employers.
My last summer at Auburn, I had the opportunity to take an internship from one of my professors, who owned a visual communications studio - createTWO. I was in charge of jump starting and developing a media kit for the letterpress side of the business in an effort to establish relationships with other design, advertising and public relations ageneies.
After graduating from one of the most admired public relations curriculums in the country, I feel confident and excited to find my ideal professional match.
