Biography
Born and raised in Atlanta, I am now blazing my public relations and special events career trail. Here’s a quick journey to where I am on that trail today …
Growing up, I was blessed with a family that valued education, traveling, sports, faith and simply having fun. I believe it’s important to experience new places and learn different cultures; therefore, I will always make it a priority to travel.
I graduated from Walton High School at the top of my class and was the founder and president of the Random Acts of Kindness Club, a cheerleader and tennis player and went on several mission trips. In 2006, I was off to Auburn University – War Eagle!
College was a time of growing socially and intellectually. I was active in my social sorority and various clubs, became entrenched into the public relations curriculum, studied abroad in Rome, Italy and threw myself into mind-broadening internships. To enhance my education, I decided to add a minor in business, so that I could be more valuable to future clients. Noteworthy, I was selected to be the Vice President of Programming for Auburn's Public Relations Council of Alabama, and was honored to receive the PR Student of the Year Award.
To touch on my two internship experiences during college … First, I was privileged to intern at Edelman Atlanta, the number one public relations agency in the U.S. It provided me with a huge learning curve. The professional, challenging and compassionate spirit that embodies Edelman truly impacted my determination to succeed in the communications industry. I had the pleasure to work with clients such as Aflac, SunTrust, Wal-Mart and Rockledge Resort. Secondly, I interned with one of my professors who owned a visual communications studio - createTWO. I was in charge of developing a media kit for the letterpress side of the business in an effort to establish relationships with design, advertising and public relations agencies.
Currently, I am contracted by mPRessions PR, a boutique PR agency in Atlanta. I predominantly work on clients such as Feld Entertainment (Disney on Ice, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey, Monster Jam, Nuclear Cowboyz), Best Buy, Magic Johnson and Allconnect. My responsibilities include coordinating logistics for a variety of events, contacting media for coverage, publicizing events through all mediums, updating social media sites, conducting research for clients and managing the redesign and content of the mPRessions Web site.
Since I believe an important component in the industry is to network and stay connected in the community, I decided to take a part-time internship at Melissa Libby & Associates, a PR agency that primarily represents popular restaurants in Atlanta. As the client services intern, I have attended weekly meetings with restaurant clients to strategize publicity and event opportunities, assisted in client grand openings/VIP parties, coordinated and executed special events and managed media clips for all clients.
Aside from my two work commitments, I am a member of PRSA, Circle for Children and The Phoenix Society. I enjoy working out, traveling, watching college football, meeting new people and trying out trendy restaurants in the city!
